The show before Full Gear! Here we go!
Jungle Boy vs. Bobby Fish
Jungle Boy rushes the ring and we are off! Jungle Boy gets flashy and Bobby catches him and targets the shoulder of Jungle Boy. Nice sell of the hurt arm by Jungle, who keeps fighting back for openings. Fish looks to have it won but Jungle Boy catches a kick and fights his way into locking in the Snare Trap. Bobby is out! Excellent finish to a good TV match and win before the PPV. ***
Adam Cole runs out and attacks Jungle Boy as Bobby Fish joins in. Cole goes for the Con-chair-to but Christian Cage and Luchasaurs rush out. Cole ducks out and Bobby is hit with a Kill Switch. Nice segment to build up the 6 man tag match.
We get a video package for Bryan Danielson vs. Miro. Well done as always from AEW.
The Young Bucks and Adam Cole are backstage for a promo. Hangman Adam Page comes in and gets in Adam Cole's face and wants to talk to the Bucks alone. Page apologizes to The Bucks for costing them a shot at the belts. Swears if they touch him on Sunday, he will ruin them. Interesting twist to the story.
Jade Cargill vs. Santana Garrett
There's a cake ringside for Jade's one year anniversary of being on the roster. You know where this is going. Jade tosses Garrett around and gets in Red Velvet's face who is in the crowd. Jade tosses Garrett into Red Velvet. That was nice. Garrett goes for a cartwheel in the corner but Jade catches her and hits her finisher. A VERY impressive spot. And another good Jade squash. N/A
Red Velvet spears Jade on the floor and shoves Mark Sterling into the cake. The women brawl as the referees rush out to break it up. Nice build-up to their TBS Championship Tournament match.
CM Punk and Eddie Kingston video package and it's fantastic as you would expect.
Dante Martin vs. Ariya Daivari
Hometown Boys facing each other. Leo Rish is not ringside as he is home with his family after the passing of his grandmother (RIP Grandma Rush). Dante runs wild with some incredibly impressive fast offense. Daivari is able to catch Dante and trip him to take over. Daivari works Dante over but keeps it moving well. Daivari hits a very nice Frog Splash for a near-fall. Dante is able to out-maneuver Daivari, hit a big dive on him and hit his double jump Moonsault for the win. Impressive showing by both men. Ariya Daivari would be very welcomed in AEW. Dante is great right now! ***
Ricky Starks gets a mic and talks to Dante as Powerhouse Hobbs and HOOK offers him a contact. Starks tries to sweet talk Dante into joining. I love that everyone wants to sign Dante. Good storyline.
We get a video package for Britt Baker vs. Tay Conti. They talk about Conti's legit judo background and how legit she is. Very nice touch.
Mark Henry is with Matt Hardy and Orange Cassidy. Best Friends are with Cassidy dressed like Lumberjacks. Hardy says Cassidy doesn't belong in his business. Cassidy says after tonight it's over. This was a dud.
Lumberjack Match: Matt Hardy vs. Orange Cassidy
Hardy promises a 1000 buck to the person that knocks out Cassidy. All the heel lumberjacks take out the babyface ones. Cassidy goes at Hardy. Hardy keeps tossing Cassidy into the lumberjacks to get him beat up. Cassidy gets worked over inside and outside the ring. Best Friends eventually recover and all of them dive on to the lumberjacks. Hardy fakes a nose injury (playing off Cassidy busting his nose during another one of their matches) to sucker Cassidy into a Side Effect. Cassidy fires up and starts to rally. Statlander and Bunny battle in the ring and Blade knocks Cassidy out with brass knuckles. Hardy pins Cassidy. Not a fan of this feud or this stipulation. But they did okay. **
Matt Hardy and his stable attack Cassidy and the Best Friends to end the show. This feud must continue…
After a phenomenal Dynamite, this episode of Rampage was a fine hour show before the PPV. Jungle Boy vs. Fish and Dante vs. Daivari was a lot of fun. Jade gets a nice squash and builds up to her match with Red Velvet. Hardy vs. Cassidy can stop anytime, but if they are going to do it might as well stick on TV at 10:45pm. On to Full Gear.
