IT'S FRIDAY! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!
Excalibur, Taz and Ricky Starks on commentary
Bryan Danielson vs. Anthony Bowens
Max Caster raps Bowens to the ring and has an amazing line about John Laurinaitis. It was phenomenal as always. Bowens is able to go toe to toe with Danielson nicely with the wrestling but the experience of Danielson leads to him eventually taking over. Max Caster attacks Danielson to allow Bowen to take back over. Danielson makes his comeback, takes out Caster on the floor. Big dive onto both members of The Acclaimed. Back in the ring, Danielson kicks Bowens' fucking head in. LeBell Lock ends it. Bowens looks great against Danielson but naturally Danielson is still the American Dragon so he still beats him pretty easily. ***
Commentary recap Andrade beating Cody with FTR's help.
From last Wednesday, we see Tony Schiavone backstage with Andrade El Idolo, FTR and MJF. Andrade pays MJF again for letting him use FTR. I like this idea of Andrade hiring people to help him. FTR calls out PAC for Dynamite.
CM Punk comes out to the ring. He pops St. Louis with the cheap pop and calls out Eddie Kingston. His music hits but is cut off and no one comes out. Punk talks more so Kingston can intrupt him, and here he comes! Kingston offers "an apology" and him and Punk trade shots. Kingston brings their past in ROH and how no one wants him here. Punk says he's embarrassed at how Kingston has not lived up to his standards.
Kingston challenges Punk to Full Gear. Punk accepts and Kingston tells to quit for 7 year after the match. HEADBUTT BY PUNK! IT'S ON! REFEREES, AGENTS AND SECURITY TRY AND BREAK IT UP! This was fantastic! This was a pro wrestling segment! One of the best segments ever in AEW if not wrestling! Watch this now!
Tony Schiavone with Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus. They want to see how tough The SuperKliq is and challenges them to a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Full Gear.
AEW TBS Championship Tournament First Round Match: The Bunny vs. Red Velvet
Red Velvet charges the ring and starts off hot. They brawl to the outside and Red Velvet bad mouths Jade Cargill in the crowd. Bunny takes over and curb stomps Red Velvet into the steel steps. Yeah, that girl should be dead now. Bunny works over Velvet until she makes a comeback. Bunny looks to maybe have it won but Velvet counters out of Bunny's finisher and hits One Final Slash to win it. Red Velvet has fire but is still very sloppy. I still don't care for The Bunny. Glad this was quick. *1/4
Mark Henry with John Silver and Adam Cole. Silver makes more BTE references about Cole becoming his manager, cutting his hair and changing his name (Get it?). Cole and Silver trade insults. Wasn't too bad.
Commentary runs down the card for Dynamite and Full Gear including Danielson vs. Rocky Romero on Wednesday! Nice!
Adam Cole vs. John Silver
Cole out with The Young Bucks and Silver out with the DarknOrser but sends them to the back. Cole cheap shots Silver to control at the start. Silver uses his power to toss Cole around. Cole is able to take over by dropping Silver on the apron and works him over. Silver makes a comeback and the two go back and forth.
Silver looks to have it won but the Bucks put Cole's foot on the rope. Dark Order runs out and chase the Bucks to the back. Silver counters a low blow attempt by Cole, hits one of his own and a spinning powerbomb for a huge near-fall! Silver runs wild only to run into a superkick! A second one to the back of the head and Cole hits The Boom! And gets the win! A very good match. Silver looked very good and Cole sold the effects of the con-chair-to well I thought throughout the match. Crowd was very behind Silver by the time the match was over. That boy could be someone. ***1/2
What an episode of Rampage! Danielson had a fun match and gave a young guy a chance to shine. The women's match was short and not terrible. Cole vs. Silver was a fun match to end the night. But that Punk/Kingston was one for the ages. This needs to be seen. You never see anything like this in WWE. It was pro wrestling in the best way possible. Can't wait for their match on PPV.
