Top Matches I Watched in April 2026
By Alex Kalil

A huge month for wrestling with AEW continuing to be amazing on TV and Dynasty being a huge PPV for them. Mania weekend gave us a few highlights from NJPW, CMLL and yes, even WWE. Just another great month for wrestling!
Will Ospreay vs. PAC at AEW Dynamite 4/1: A really good story driven and action-filled match. PAC attacks Ospreay on his entrance and hits him with a Brainbuster on the ramp! Immediately Ospreay's neck is b-adly hurt before the match even starts. Ospreay eventually is able to get in the ring and the match begins. PAC takes over right away and just stomps on and works over Ospreay's neck. Ospreay is able to find some hope spots to stay alive in the match even as his neck continues to affect him. A DDT on the floor by PAC puts Ospreay right back on defense and almost gets him counted out. PAC attacks as soon as Ospreay slides into the ring and locks in the Brutalizer, which Ospreay breaks up by getting to the ropes right away. PAC goes back to work on the neck again, only for Ospreay to come back with a Powerbomb into a Styles Clash! Ospreay's neck prevents a deep cover and PAC kicks out at 2 but Ospreay is fighting back! Ospreay takes too long going to the top and PAC cuts him out and hits for a top rope Poison Rana! Ospreay lands on his feet! Holy Shit! Back and forth counters from both men before PAC lays out Ospreay with a Lariat. Tombstone and a Black Arrow to Ospreay's back before PAC, once again, locks in the Brutalizer. Ospreay fights to get out of it, even trying to stand up with PAC still having the submission locked in, but he just can't break it. Ospreay reaches the ropes only for PAC to roll him into the center of the ring but Ospreay rolls PAC into a pin and gets the 3! A really good match that allowed Ospreay to sell the damage to his neck but still keep fighting. PAC looked vicious all match and was locked in on Ospreay's neck. The Brutalizer seemed to have Ospreay all but beaten, however Ospreay was able to counter just long enough to steal a pin and get the win. ****
AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: MJF vs. "Speedball" Mike Bailey at AEW Dynamite 4/1: A very fun and classic babyface vs. heel wrestling match. MJF jumps Bailey before the bell but Bailey fights back with his strikes to put MJF in the corner. Bailey looks for the Tornado Kick early but MJF uses the referee as a shield and pokes Bailey in the eyes. Classic heel shit. The rest of the match plays out with a very similar story to it: MJF takes cheap shots and works over Bailey while Bailey fights from underneath with his speed and strikes to put MJF on defense. Some really good back and forth from both men with Bailey's speed helping to keep him one step ahead of MJF at times and even get some quick near-falls in. However, MJF is able to find ways to counter and cut off Bailey to get some heat on him. Bailey is able to start laying in more and more big shots on MJF and even hits Ultimo Weapon for a cover but MJF gets his foot on the rope. MJF gouges Bailey's eyes to block the Flamingo Driver and rolls to the apron to escape, but Bailey follows. Bailey goes for a Moonsault Knee on the apron but MJF moves out the way and Bailey lands knees first on the apron. A Tombstone on the apron before MJF finishes things with a Heatseeker to get the win. A very simple idea for a match done super well. Both men sold the offense of the other well and the match had a great flow to it where both men looked like they could get the win. Bailey took one too many risks and MJF was able to out-smart him to get the win. ****
EVE Championship Match Rhio (c) vs. Session Moth Martina at EVE 146: Wrestle Queendom VIII: A really well done and emotional title match. Some back and forth wrestling to start with both women going for big shots early including Martina hitting a Codebreaker on Rhio to send her to the outside to regroup. Rhio decides to stop playing nice and breaks out some weapons to attack Martina, who grabs one of the kendo sticks for herself first but a trash can to the head busts Martina open and puts her on defense. Some really good heat by Rhio who beats the hell out of Martina, even as Martina finds ways to fight back and stay alive. We get some big spots like Martina knocking Rhio off the top rope into tacks and Rhio piledriving Martina off the apron through a table! Martina is able to keep fighting back and hits a suplex for a cover, only for Alexxis Falcon to pull the referee from the ring to stop the pin. Referee gets taken out and the heels rush the ring to attack Martina. The babyface locker room empties as we get a massive brawl in the ring. Babyfaces clear the ring and it is back down to Rhio and Martina! A Bret's rope Codebreaker and a Brainbuster finally puts Rhio down and gives Martina the win and the title! Super fun match with Martina's win coming off like a huge deal especially with all she fought through. Match flew by even with the 30 minute length and while the big brawl was neat, it felt very WWE. ****
Triple Threat Match for the NXT Women's Championship: Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Lola Vice vs. Kendal Grey at NXT Stand & Deliver 2026: A really exciting and action-filled match. Things kick off and we get the standard 3 way style match with 2 in, 1 out early on. Lots of great back and forth counters and exchanges from all 3 women as everyone looks for a quick win. As the match goes on, we get more of all 3 women involved in the match and get to see more of their individual strategies as Jayne looks for big offense, Vice uses her strikes and Grey looks for submissions. Grey gets Jayne in an Ankle Lock and she tries to fight out of it. Vice comes in and locks Grey in a choke to get her to finally break the hold, only for Jayne to nail both with a knee. All 3 women pick up the pace as the match becomes an awesome back and forth exchange of offense and near-falls. Fatal Influence tries to get involved to help Jayne but gets ran off by Wren Sinclair while Grey takes out Jayne and Vice with a Moonsault to the outside! Some more close near-falls before Jayne hits a rolling right hand to knock Grey out the ring. Jayne turns around and is nailed by Vice's Backfist and she gets the 3! While the opening few minutes were very standard and not very interesting to me, the final 8 or so minutes of action was great! Very much enjoyed the quick back and forth all 3 women were able to pull off and the finish was well done. ****
IWGP Tag Team Championship Match: Knockout Brothers (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and Ryohei Oiwa at NJPW Sakura Genesis 2026: Another incredible match from these two teams! Ice and Oiwa start things off and we get a clear story to their interactions for the match early on with Ice wanting to fight and use his strikes while Oiwa wants to wrestle and go after Ice's left arm. Oiwa and Sabre are able to isolate Ice in the early goings with quick tags and work on picking him apart. Ice is able to find an opening to tag in OSKAR, who comes in to clear house and get his team back in the match. A big boot is caught by Sabre, who goes to work on the knee of OSKAR to take away the big man's size and power advantage. Great leg work by both Sabre and Oiwa, including a great submission by Sabre but OSKAR is still fighting back every step of the way. A big backdrop on Oiwa gives OSKAR the opening to tag in Ice, who comes in and runs wild. Awesome back and forth by Ice and Oiwa with Oiwa viciously going after the left arm multiple times but Ice is still able to fight back! Some nice near-falls for both men before Ice levels Oiwa with a Roundhouse Kick and a PK for a cover that is broken up by Sabre. Oiwa and Sabre team up on Ice and hit a double team Chaos Theory but OSKAR makes the save. Knockout Brothers look for the KOB but Sabre blocks it and hits Ice with a Zack Driver followed by a German Suplex from Oiwa for another near-fall! Sabre locks OSKAR in a Guillotine Choke on the floor while screaming for Oiwa to finish things. Oiwa hits a huge Sleeper Suplex on Ice but when Oiwa goes for The Grip, Ice rocks him with a slap! Cruella by Ice and he gets the win! Just an awesome match from these two teams. Wish we didn't get so much of Ice and Oiwa going at it alone but it helped to serve the bigger story with Ice once again beating Oiwa in a tag match. ****1/2
IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Yota Tsuji (c) vs. Callum Newman at NJPW Sakura Genesis 2026: An excellent back and forth match from these two. We start off hot with some quick exchanges and counters as both men look for big shots early. Newman rolls out the ring to regroup but Tsuji doesn't let him rest long before hitting him with a big dive. From there we get some nice back and forth from both men with Tsuji using his size and power while Newman uses his speed. Newman goes for an Oscutter on the apron but Tsuji blocks it and hits a Stomp on the apron and another Stomp from the apron to the floor! Good Lord! Tsuji starts laying in some big shots but Newman is able to move out of the way of another Stomp and the referee is hit instead! Newman punts Tsuji's head and tells Zane Jay to give him a chair. Will Ospreay stops Jay and tells Newman he can do it on his own. As Newman turns around, Tsuji nails a Hidden Blade! Gene Blaster and a cover but no referee! A second referee gets in but Newman has time to kick-out. Tsuji looks for Gene Blaster but Newman blocks with a Hidden Blade. Both men are exhausted as they trade strikes from their knees. Newman teases going for the Oscutter but he fakes out Tsuji and makes him Kiss the Crown! Prince's Curse but only gets a 2 count. Newman looks for MAKE WAY but Tsuji fights out to hit a Destroyer and a Gene Blaster! Kickout! Tsuji goes for another Gene Blaster but Newman leaps over to dodge it and hits Excalibur! Kiss the Crown again but Tsuji counters MAKE WAY into a DDT. Marlowe Crash helps set up Tsuji for another Gene Blaster but Newman rolls him up and hits Kiss the Crown once again! Prince's Curse can't get the win again so Newman keeps looking for MAKE WAY but Tsuji is able to keep finding ways to block it and counter it. Tsuji looks for one final Gene Blaster but Newman pulls the referee in the way to stop him. Low blow by Newman, who lifts Tsuji and finally hits MAKE WAY! Newman covers and gets the win! The youngest IWGP champion ever! Great match from both men. Lots of great back and forth action and close near-falls. Some of the offense got a little repetitive with both men going for the same offense a lot but it did serve the story as Newman was looking for MAKE WAY all match but Tsuji was able to keep blocking it. Newman finally had to cheat to stop Tsuji, hit MAKE WAY and get the win. ****1/2
Chaos in Canada Match: Will Ospreay, Callum Newman, HENARE and Francesco Akira vs. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC and Daniel Garcia at AEW Dynamite 4/8: A wild brawl of a match. United Empire jumps the Death Riders in the crowd and we are off. Alex Windsor comes out and goes at it with Marina Shafir before they fight to the back and make this an even fight. Akira and HENARE break out a ladder to attack the Death Riders before Akira hits an insane dive off the ladder. Some fun storytelling mixed into the wild brawl with HENARE and Claudio being the heavys of their teams, while Akira and Garcia are targeted as the weak links at times and Moxley making a point to go after Ospreay's neck before their PPV match. United Empire is able to rally and come to Ospreay's aid as they start taking out the Death Riders one by one. HENARE spears Claudio through a table, Akira slams Garcia on a table that doesn't break as Newman stomps PAC through a third table. It is down to Moxley and Ospreay as they go at it. Moxley hits a series of Paradigm Shifts on Ospreay before Newman comes in to make the save by leveling Moxley with Kiss the Crown. Ospreay Hidden Blades Moxley through a table and he and Newman get the pin! A wild match that nicely furthered the Ospreay and Moxley feud. Ospreay is able to pin Moxley, thanks to Newman's help while the United Empire was able to beat the Death Riders at their own game. ****
The Young Bucks vs. Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Dynasty 2026: An excellent storytelling and action-filled match! Bucks are able to run wild over the reluctant teammates early with their speed, agility and tag team offense. Okada and Takeshita are eventually able to isolate Matt with their power advantage and take over. Some really well done heat by both Okada and Takeshita, including Okada pulling Nick from the apron and mockingly asks Matt to tag him in. Matt is finally able to tag in Nick, who runs wild for a bit to get the Bucks back in the match. Double Sharpshooter spot by the Bucks and Okada and Takeshita slap each other to keep each other from tapping out in another great visual. Match becomes a wild ride of big offense and near-falls for both teams. Avalanche German Suplex by Takeshita on Matt followed by a Powerdrive Knee but Nick is able to run Okada into the pin to break it up. The 4 men get into a back and forth strike exchange, where at one point Takeshita and Okada come to blows for a moment. Takeshita goes for the Powerdrive Knee but the Bucks avoid it and he hits Okada! Takeshita fights out of a BTE Trigger and looks for Raging Fire on Matt. However, Okada pulls Matt down and looks for the Rainmaker instead, but hits Takeshita! Double Superkick on Okada and a BTE Trigger by the Bucks! Kickout! Bucks go for the TK Driver but Takeshita grabs Nick's leg to stop him... but lets him go! TK Driver by the Bucks and they get the win! Awesome match with Okada and Takeshita working well together for the most part. Bucks were naturally able to fight back to make this an even and exciting back and forth match. Finish was well done as Takeshita finally had enough of Okada's antics and let the Bucks finish him off. ****1/2
Darby Allin vs. Andrade El Idolo at AEW Dynasty 2026: A really good match of speed vs. power. Some quick exchanges early that showcase Andrade having the power advantage while Darby is quicker. Andrade hits his Tranquillo pose in the rope and Darby just dives at him, sending both men to the floor. Darby starts throwing himself at Andrade to take over, including a Coffin Drop on the floor and a dropkick in the crowd. Andrade is able to cut off Darby with the 3 Amigos but takes too long with Darby on the top rope and Darby counters an Avalanche Samoan Drop into an insane Crucifix Driver right into a Crossface! Holy Shit! Andrade makes it to the ropes to break the hold and retreats to the floor but Darby comes back with a dive. More wild offense by Darby but Andrade cuts him off with a suplex from the apron to the floor. Darby starts to get counted out but makes it back in at 9, only for Andrade to nail him with the double knees in the corner. Andrade hits a big double Moonsault for a 2 count but Andrade isn't letting up on Darby with his powerful strikes. Darby is able to counter and hit a Scorpion Death Drop followed by a Coffin Drop! Cover but Andrade stops the referee's hand before the 3! Andrade flips Darby off when he goes for a Code Red and nails a nasty back elbow! Kickout! Andrade looks for the DM but Darby counters with the Last Supper and gets the pin! Super fun match from both men. Darby threw himself at Andrade all match and took a lot of risks to fight back against Andrade's powerful strikes and offense. A lot of great counters and exchanges with Andrade seeming to take Darby lightly all match until Darby caught him with a roll-up for the win. ****1/4
AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (c) vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at AEW Dynasty 2026: A really good old school style tag match. Things start off hot with all 4 guys going at it before Copeland is able to isolate and work over Cash for a bit. FTR is able to fight back though by double teaming Copeland and getting some heat on him. Copeland finds an opening to tag in Christian, who gets his chance to run wild for a bit, even kicking Dax low at one point. However, FTR starts to go after Christian's injured right arm to cut him off and get a second set of heat. Christian is able to tag Copeland back in and he starts a comeback for the babyfaces. Copeland signals Christian and they go for Power and Glory but Dax gets his knees up on Christian but so does Copeland when Cash tries to come off the top on him. Fun spot. Copeland and Christian start rolling with a dual submission spot, which is broken up and Cash grabs one of the tag belts. Christian tries to stop him but Cash clocks Copeland and busts him up! Dax rolls up Copeland but only gets a 2. Copeland blocks a Shatter Machine and he and Christian hit a 3D for a near-fall of their own. Stokely is able to distract Christian, which leaves Copeland open for a Shatter Machine. Cover but Christian rolls Stokely into the ring to break up the pin in a clever spot. Things break down as everyone looks for big offense to keep their opponents down. Cash hits Christian with a chair on the floor and throws him into the timekeeper's area to take him out of the match. Copeland goes it alone against FTR but the numbers are too much. Superkicks from FTR and they go for a FTR Trigger but Copeland avoids it and spears them both! Copeland goes for a final Spear but Dax is able to roll through and FTR hits the Shatter Machine for the win. A really fun match from both teams. Loved the double heat on both members of the babyface team as well as both teams using moves from their famous rivals. Some really great near-falls before Copeland goes down fighting. ****
Casino Gauntlet Match for the TNT Championship at AEW Dynasty 2026: A fun and exciting multi-man match. Ciampa and Rush start off and get right into it with heavy chops and strikes back and forth. Bandido enters and runs wild for a bit before Rush cuts him off and starts ripping at his mask. Bailey and El Clon enter as the next two and both are able to get some shine for a bit. PAC enters and takes a bunch of people out with a big dive before we get a fun 3 way sequence with him, Bailey and Bandido. Garica enters and tries to look for quick roll-ups as a nice strategy. Bowens enters next for a nice bit of shine before Knight enters and comes to the aid of Bailey. We get a ton of big moves by people before Yuta enters next. Everyone gets thrown to the floor and El Clon hits a crazy Spanish Fly to a diving Bandido on the pile. Ciampa Superplexes Knight onto everyone as well. PAC gets Bailey in the ring and hits the Black Arrow! Ciampa knees PAC to break up the cover but Yuta stops him from pinning PAC. Garcia locks Bailey in the Dragon Tamer but when he sits back on the hold, Knight comes off the top with a UFO Splash on both men! Knight covers Garcia and gets the win! This match was a ton of fun. Everyone got a chance to shine and we got some great exchanges from everyone involved. Knight getting the win was a nice surprise as we get a chance for a young guy to get a run with the belt. ****
AEW Continental Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty 2026: An incredible storytelling match! Bell rings and Osprey immediately hits Moxley with a Hidden Blade! Holy Shit! Ospreay isn't rushing his revenge as he hits another Hidden Blade to send Moxley to the outside but Ospreay stays on him. Nice little spot of Ospreay mounting Moxley for some strikes and Moxley tries for an armbar and triangle but Ospreay powerbombs out of it. Back on the floor, Ospreay looks to use the ring steps but Moxley runs him into them instead and hits a Paradigm Shift on the floor! Now Ospreay is the one on defense as Moxley locks in on his neck and goes after it. A Sleeper Suplex drops Ospreay right on his head back in the ring before Moxley starts brawling with Ospreay as he lays in Lariats, elbows and boots. Ospreay does a great job fighting back the whole time but his neck keeps bothering him and all Moxley has to do is land one blow to the neck to cut him off. Ospreay counters a charging Moxley into a Spanish Fly for a cover but Moxley kicks out and locks in a Bulldog Choke. Ospreay starts to fight out, only for Moxley to transition into a Piledriver! Moxley looks to end things with an Avalanche Sleeper Suplex but Ospreay flips out of it! Wild back and forth exchange before Moxley sticks Ospreay with a Paradigm Shift, only for Ospreay to nail Moxley with a Hidden Blade before collapsing! My God! Ospreay is still trying to fight back but his neck is starting to cause more and more issues like when Ospreay goes for a Tiger Driver '91 but can't lift Moxley up for it. A brutal Piledriver on the ring steps by Moxley and Ospreay looks done! The ringside doctor checks on Ospreay, who somehow still makes it back in the ring at 9, only to get Stomped by Moxley. A pair of Paradigm Shifts on Ospreay but he kicks out at 2! HOW?! Death Rider by Moxley and that gets him the 3! What a fight! The action and the back and forth counters from both men were incredible as was the storytelling. Ospreay had Moxley beat in the opening minutes but his quest for revenge prevented him from covering right away and Moxley was able to target the bad neck of Ospreay to put him down and live to fight another day. ****1/2
AEW World Championship Match: MJF (c) vs. Kenny Omega at AEW Dynasty 2026: A very exciting back and forth battle between these two. Match starts off with some nice quick exchanges and counters as both men go for their biggest shots early. Omega picks up the pace with some high flying offense and even gets a little violent when he puts a table on top of MJF and double stomps it. Omega takes too long on the top though and MJF cuts him off and starts to get some heat on him. Match becomes a very back and forth battle with neither man able to maintain control for very long. Omega tries to push the pace with quick offense and big shots while MJF wrestles a more traditional style as he tries to wear down Omega. Really love the story element of Omega looking for the One-Winged Angel all match but MJF having ways to counter and block it because he knows it is a killing blow. Omega is able to start gaining on MJF as his offense gets bigger and bigger, even hitting a Kota Ibushi style Moonsault but Omega's midsection starts to feel the strain from the match. Naturally MJF starts targeting Omega's midsection with a kitchen sink and shots to the gut. Omega keeps fighting and landing big shots but can't get a good cover in due to the damage to his midsection. Omega is finally able to find the strength to lift MJF and hit a Bret's rope One-Winged Angel! But Omega is too hurt to cover right away and MJF rolls to the floor to avoid the pin! Omega gets MJF back in the ring and looks for a second One-Winged Angel but MJF is able to block and hit a Cross Rhodes and Package Piledriver! 2 count! Both men are drained but keep fighting as MJF slaps Omega and Omega fires back with some stiff punches. A pair of V-Triggers on MJF and Omega goes for the One-Winged Angel again. MJF slips out and pulls the referee in the way of another V-Trigger! Low blow by MJF and he gets the Diamond Ring to hit Omega, who ducks the punch and hits the One-Winged Angel! Cover but no referee! Second referee is in but MJF kicks out! MJF rolls to the apron to escape but Omega follows and looks to put MJF through a table on the floor. Gut punch by MJF with the Diamond Ring followed by Tombstone off the apron through the table! MJF gets Omega back up and hits a Heatseeker to get the win! What a match! Really loved the even back and forth throughout the whole match until Omega's midsection came into play. Omega kept looking for the One-Winged Angel all match because he knew it was his Ace in the hole, even as MJF was able to counter and block it several times. Omega was able to hit it not once but twice but still couldn't beat MJF, due to his cheating ways. ****1/2
AEW World Championship Match: MJF (c) vs. Darby Allin at AEW Dynamite 4/15-Spring BreakThru 2026 Night 1: A perfect squash match. Bell rings and MJF hands over his Diamond Ring to the referee for a distraction to kick Darby low! MJF looks for a Headlock Takeover but Darby pushes him off, almost into the referee, and kicks MJF low! Scorpion Death Drop by Darby! Coffin Drop! And a second! And a third! And one more Coffin Drop on MJF! Darby picks up MJF and... Headlock Takeover! Cover! Darby is the new AEW World Champion! A perfect full circle moment! MJF was cocky but unprepared for Darby and Darby beat MJF at his own game and pinned him for the World Title with a Headlock Takeover! Fucking Perfect! ****
TNA X-Division Championship Match: Leon Slater (c) vs. Cedric Alexander at TNA Rebellion 2026: A really good veteran vs. young guy match. We start off fast with lots of back and forth counters from both men. Slater is able to use his speed to take over and push the pace, only for Cedric to cut him off with a cutter in the ropes and a STO on the apron. Cedric goes to work on the back and neck of Slater with some nice big offense but keeps getting cocky about his advantage which allows Slater to find openings to fight back. Slater takes too long on the top rope and Cedric cuts him off and hits a Brainbuster for a nice near-fall. Cedric ups the ante with a Turnbuckle Brainbuster that sends Slater to the floor! Holy Shit! Cedric gets him in the ring and hits the Lumbar Check and covers! Slater gets his foot on the rope! Great near-fall. A frustrated Cedric grabs the title to hit Slater but Slater is able to stop Cedric and hits a Styles Clash on the belt. Swanton 450 and Slater retain. Really good match with Cedric trying to counter Slater's amazing agility by working over his back and neck to set up for his finisher. Slater fought back and was even able to make Cedric pay for trying to cheat before getting the win. ****
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Fuminori Abe at NJPW Death Vegas Invitational: A really great technical wrestling match. Some quick mat wrestling exchanges and we get a nice story to the action with Sabre being better in terms of submission wrestling and works the neck while Abe has the better strikes and goes after Sabre's back. Lots of great counters and exchanges as both men are able to take control at times. Awesome finishing stretch as both men seem to pick up the pace and move faster to look for the finishing blow. Abe locks in an Octopus Hold but is countered into an Ankle Lock from Sabre. Abe fights it off and goes for his rebound in the ropes for a strike but Sabre is ready this time and nails a Zack Driver for the win. Really good stuff with both men having their strategies for the match. Abe went to the well once too often and Sabre was able to counter and hit the Zack Driver out of nowhere for the win. ****
Three Way Death Match: Masashi Takeda and Rina Yamashita vs. El Desperado and Jun Kasai vs. The H8 Club at NJPW Death Vegas Invitational: A wild and crazy violent death match. We get right into the action with lots of weapons and blood. Light tubes and panes of glass come out early and Takeda and Rina break out scissors to slice up their opponents and rip at Desperado's mask. Tons of wild spots and near-falls and some great visuals of everyone covered in blood including Desperado whose mask is ripped but face is covered in blood to protect his identity. That's awesome! Tremont chokeslams Desperado through glass before Gage hits him with a Chokebreaker, a pair of Piledrivers and a powerbomb for the win. Just an all out violent and bloody match. Exactly what you want from these wrestlers in this match. ****
Blue Panther vs. Ultimo Guerrero at CMLL at Palms Slam Fest 2026: A very fun match from two Lucha legends. Guerrero jumps Panther from the start and goes to work on him for some heat and milks the hell out of it. Panther is able to start a comeback and hits a bunch of big high spots to take over. Match follows a nice flow from there with Panther looking for big high spots while Guerrero looks to use his power to ground and work over Panther. Tons of wild spots from Panther including a dive off the ramp, a top rope Hurricanrana before ending things with a top rope Spanish Fly for the win. Super fun match to sit back and enjoy and let these two show off. ****
World Heavyweight Championship Match: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns at WWE Wrestlemania 42 Night 2: An incredible battle of the resourceful strategist vs. the powerful brawler. We get the story of the match in the opening few minutes as Punk tries to wrestle Roman, only for Roman to hit a Samoan Drop and lay into Punk with big shots sending him to the floor. Punk gets thrown over the barricade but is able to sucker Roman in close to clothesline him over the barricade as well. However, Roman takes right back over by slamming Punk into the announcers' table. We get an excellent back and forth flow that keeps the story of the match highlighted. Punk has to try and outsmart Roman to take over and find clever openings but he gets cocky at times, which gives Roman an opening to take over with his powerful offense. Awesome spot early on with Roman setting up for the Spear but Punk charges into the corner to give him a knee instead. Match goes back to the outside with Punk looking to elbow drop Roman through the announcers' table but again, gets cocky and takes too long, which allows Roman to cut him off. Roman traps Punk in the Tree of Woe on the outside and lays in some shots including a shot with the steel steps to bust Punk open. Roman isn't done yet and powerbomb Punk through the announcers' table! Roman gets Punk back in the ring and goes for a Spear but Punk counters and hits the GTS out of nowhere! Punk falls into the cover but Roman kicks out at 2. Punk tries for another GTS but Roman slips out and hits a Spear! 2 count as well! Roman decides to play into Punk's game and goes for a GTS but Punk escapes and hits a Superman Punch. Punk toys with Roman by putting on an ula fala and goes for a Spear but Roman catches him with a Guillotine! Punk is able to fight out of it and locks Roman in an Anaconda Vice. Roman punches Punk to escape and gets the Guillotine right back in! Punk fights his way out again and tries for a Sharpshoot but Roman fights to block it and nails a boot to the head to drop Punk right back into the Guillotine! What a sequence! Punk rolls through to try for a cover and Roman has to let go of the hold to kick out. Both men are exhausted as they throw whatever strikes they have left in them from their knees and fight their way to their feet. Fun spot of Punk headbutting Roman but feeling the effects just as much because you never headbutt a Samoan. Punk takes off his wrist tape and throws it at Roman, and while the referee gets rid of the tape, Punk low blows Roman! GTS! Cover! 2 count! Punk is willing to do whatever it takes to win! Punk takes Roman outside the ring and sets him up on the announcers' table and hits a top rope elbow from the ring! Both men look done for. Punk gets Roman back in the ring for another GTS. Roman bounces off the ropes and lands on Punk's shoulders. Punk goes to lift Roman for one final GTS but collapses! Punk doesn't have anything left in the tank! Spear by Roman but Punk is still on his knees swinging at Roman, trying to fight. One final Spear by Roman and the cover! New champion! What a fucking match! So many layers and little storytelling moments to make this feel like an epic encounter. Roman used his power and size all match so Punk had to work smarter but he kept getting cocky and was too focused on proving himself to Roman to stay on him. Finish was excellent as Punk looked to have the match won but his body had taken too much punishment and Roman was able to put him away. ****1/2
AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa at AEW Dynamite 4/22: A physical and hard hitting fight! Both men come out the gate swinging and looking for a quick finish as Darby goes for the Coffin Drop and Ciampa tries for Willow's Bell. Ciampa is able to take over with his size and power advantage by throwing Darby around ringside and brawling with him. Darby avoids a boot over the barricade and hits an insane dive from the top rope, sending him and Ciampa crashing into the timekeeper's area! Ciampa is busted open as Darby comes speeding at him with another big dive. I love Darby having to throw himself recklessly at Ciampa to have a chance of surviving here. Darby keeps looking for the Coffin Drop, which Ciampa keeps avoiding and even cuts off Darby on the top rope and sends both men to the floor with a Psycho Driver from Bret's rope! Holy Fuck! Both men keep going at it as we get some great back and forth strike exchanges and counters. Darby goes for the Coffin Drop again but Ciampa catches him in a sleeper until Darby rolls through for a near-fall. Darby inadvertently runs into an exposed turnbuckle from earlier in the match and Ciampa lowers the knee pad for a knee in Darby's face! Cover! Kick-out by Darby! Project Ciampa and another knee but Darby will not stay down! My God! Ciampa tries for a Scorpion Death Lock but Darby is able to fight out and apply his own! Ciampa tries to reach the ropes but Darby pulls him back to the center of the ring and sits back deep on the hold to finally get Ciampa to tap out! Darby survives and retains! What a war from these two! Ciampa was bigger and stronger and beat the hell out of Darby, who gave it back just as hard even using his body as a weapon to do so. A ton of great near-falls that made it look like Ciampa could win this but when Ciampa tried to beat Darby with his own hold, Darby was able to counter into his own for the win. ****1/4
AEW TNT Championship Match: Kevin Knight (c) vs. MJF at AEW Dynamite 4/29: A really good back and forth match. Bell rings and MJF comes out of the gate being aggressive as he tosses Knight to the outside and throws him around ringside. MJF gets Knight back in the ring and looks to ground him and work over the high flyer. Knight is able to fight back with some quick offense and starts to mount a comeback. Great sequence as Knight goes to the top for a UFO Splash but MJF rolls out to the floor, only for Knight to hit him with a big dive. Knight throws MJF back into the ring three more times but MJF keeps rolling to the floor to escape and Knight keeps following him with dives including an insane diving Clothesline over the top rope! Knight keeps the momentum going as he gets MJF on the top turnbuckle, only to get pushed off but Knight lands on his feet and hits MJF with a Hurricanrana off the top. But Knight comes up favoring his knee. MJF is able to avoid a UFO Splash by Knight, who comes down hard on his knee and MJF goes to work on him. Some nice heat by MJF as he targets Knight's knee but Knight is still fighting back! A superkick by Knight buys him time to go to the top and finally hit the UFO Splash! But Knight's knee prevents him from covering right away and MJF kicks out. MJF cuts off Knight again by going back to the knee with a pair of Dragon Screws. Alabama Slam but a cocky cover by MJF only gets him a 2. MJF covers again but Knight isn't staying down, even kicking out at 1! Great spot. MJF has enough and grabs the title but the referee stops him and takes the belt away. MJF pulls out the Diamond Ring and goes to hit Knight but Knight catches him with a low blow! Small package and Knight steals the win! Really good match with both men wrestling the match perfectly: MJF trying to ground and get heat on Knight, while Knight used his high flying offense to push the pace. MJF got frustrated at being unable to put Knight away easily and tried to cheat but, yet again, was beaten at his own game. ****
AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Brody King at AEW Dynamite 4/29: A really fun David vs. Goliath match. Both men get right into the action with Darby looking to hit hard and fast while Brody just throws him around with ease. Awesome early spot with Darby going for a dive but literally bouncing off Brody. Brody continues to just manhandle Darby while Darby does everything he can to fight back. A dropkick off the top, a choke on the floor and even a Code Red on the announcers' table only seems to slow Brody down for a moment before he starts hammering Darby again. Brody cuts off Darby going for a Coffin Drop and traps him in the Tree of Woe for a Cannonball in the corner. Thunderous Lariats by Brody but Darby won't stay down! Brody launches Darby to the outside again before dragging him against the barricade. Awesome visual as Brody is dragging Darby and Darby literally pulls the mats on the floor up to try and hold on. Brody charges with a Cannonball but Darby moves and Brody crashes through the barricade! Brody follows Darby to the apron but Darby slips under and powerbombs Brody to the exposed floor! Coffin Drop from Bret's rope to the floor by Darby! Brody starts to get counted out but makes it back in at 9, only for Darby to come off the top with a Coffin Drop! Another Coffin Drop and a cover for Darby to retain! Another great match from these rivals turned friends. Brody was a monster all match that Darby had to look for every way possible to chip away at. Some really creative spots and a well done finish as Darby threw everything at Brody to keep him down for the 3 count. ****
